Jesus Christ, Superman

Using Superman to teach kids about Christ?

Much has been said in our time about how our culture has no reference point for the gospel anymore, and I believe it might have something to do with the fact that we don't use modern-day examples anymore. So, when I read about using super-heroes to talk about Jesus, it was somewhat encouraging.

Much of the work of the Church is to preach the gospel in the context of the current culture. Retranslating what Jesus says and does is our call, and I'm excited to hear about kids learning about it. The only problem with comparing Jesus to super-heroes is that seems to blur the line between fantasy and reality. Thoughts?

Ah, true, but still super heros are human (or human like) and thus are still flawed, which seems to be all the rage when writing comics these days, make your hereo as human and flawed as possible, where as Jesus was not. Also it might be important to show Jesus in the historical aspect to maintain the reality of Him, with out going all history prof. on them. That is a part of being creative as Christ the example was for us. Do you think that the parables are real? Well, in some aspect, but they were not historical or about someone Jesus knew, they were stories to show a point, and point to God.
