hospitals and friends

It seems as though the Caperton family just can't stay out of the hospital. We've been four times (if you count Riley's birth) in the past four weeks. This time, like the pervious, we were pretty scared going in. Riley had a fever of 103.9, and the only thing I could think of was that she was going to have brain damage. [OK, I think I heard once that high fevers can give babies brain damage, I couldn't substantiate it at the time, but I was still scared] So I held her, and prayed for her, and worried a lot.

The doctor came in to talk to us once we got Riley in a room and said that it's an infection. They eliminated spinal meningitis [infection of the spinal cord fluid, very bad] first, and they later found that the infection was in her urine. So, it is her bladder, her kindeys, or both that are infected, tests will come back for that tonight by 7pm or so. Also, it could either be a chronic case [her plumbing has functional problems] or an isolated case, please be praying for a the latter.

But to tell this story without the underscore of support and help that our friends at Vox Church would cheapen it. Everyone has been so great- haning out with us, bringing us food, calling to check on us, helping with Jed, praying for us, and just letting us know we're loved. It's been a very beautiful thing to be a part of. And with Kristy spending nights at the hospital the past two nights and me going to work today, we've really needed the extra help.

Maybe next time we go there, they'll issue us our frequent guest VIP membership...

I will be praying.
Dude...you guys should get one of those coffee cards for the hospital. You know...buy 10 cups get your 11th free. At the rate you are going, your 11th ER visit will be free by December!
Weakness on your health file...man you make me laugh so hard sometimes.

Thankfully, we have no need for the frequent guest card...everything is completely covered by Medicaid for both of the kids! Yeah! That's got to be the best thing I've found about being poor!

Have you found out what was wrong yet? You can't leave posts like that without updates.

UPDATE ON RILEY:
She is fine. It is not chronic, nothing else is wrong with her other than a bladder infection. Thank you to all who prayed for her and to those who came to visit, her stay in the hospital was terrific thanks to all of you.
